Lyde Thomas Family and Friends

WE NEED YOUR INPUT

Quite a few family members have expressed an interest in getting together for a weekend of family fun, so we have decided to look into an option for your review. We are hopeful that you all will be as excited about what we have found as we are. We realize that the economy is horrible, and that everyone is pinching pennies, so we have looked into the possibility of hosting a weekend family retreat at the beautiful Santee State Park, in Santee, South Carolina. State Parks are much cheaper alternatives to other venues, and many offer fairly decent overnight accomodations.

Now if you are looking for the Hilton or the Marriott you are barking up the wrong tree, but if you are looking for safe, clean accomadations that will allow you to see another part of the world on the cheap, while spending time with family, then this would be the perfect fit for you. The site selected offers a little something for everyone. Santee State Park offers cabins, camping, biking, hiking, and in the heart of one of the nations best known outdoor destinations. By the way, did we mention the fishing? For those of you who have boats, you should be sure to hitch them along. The best part of it all is that we have chosen a site that is spacious and designed to accommodate large groups of people.

Santee State Park offers individual cabins which have a kitchen, a dining area, a living room. Each cabin has two bedrooms with double beds, and a pullout couch, and sleeps 6 possibly more if you bring an air mattress or two. Two of the cabins are also wheelchair compatible. In addition, each cabin has an outside picnic table and grill.  If we book at least 10 cabins, (and we are hoping that we will), we also have the option of booking the community building at a significantly reduced rate. The the weekend rate for a cabin is $271, and the park is asking that a $137 deposit be placed to secure each individual cabin as we will be securing the 2011 rate. Because the park is so well known and popular, cabins go quickly so we are asking that folks begin to send their $137 deposits in full or in installments with all deposits being due no later than September 20, 2011. The remainder of the balance will be due at check-in.

Now here is the best part! We can get together with our folks, sleep, eat, play and have as much fun as we can think of on the cheap. In today's ecomomy we should all consider this to be one terrific deal. So we are looking at a several dates, August 10th-12th 2012, August 17th-19th 2012 and August 24th-26th 2012. This is where you come in. We need your feedback in regards to if you plan to participate, and how many folks you plan to bring with you, and any comments or ideas that you wish to share. Review the dates, and RSVP online by using the form at the bottom of this page.
